How can I load funds to my BB&T MoneyAccount?
Funds can be loaded in a number of ways: (1) You can sign up for Direct Deposit and have your payroll check or government benefit check automatically deposited to your MoneyAccount. How do I set up direct deposit?
Print out a pre-filled direct deposit form. You can access this form by logging into BB&T OnLine Banking, selecting your BB&T MoneyAccount, and then choosing “Payroll Direct Deposit” from the drop-down menu.  Sign the form and present it to your company’s payroll department. [back to top]

Where can I use my BB&T MoneyAccount Debit Card?
You can use your BB&T MoneyAccount Debit Card for purchases anywhere Visa debit cards are accepted.  You can also use your card to withdraw cash from ATMs worldwide or to request cash back at participating retailers. [back to top]

What should I know about special transactions at certain types of merchants?
Some transactions are processed differently than other purchases.  This is usually because the final purchase amount is not known at the time you present your card.  The most common merchant types falling into this category are:
1. Gas Stations (Pay at the Pump) – These transactions are not allowed at the pump on your MoneyAccount Card.  Simply go inside and prepay before pumping your gas.
2. Restaurants – A restaurant may submit an amount for “authorization” that is more than the final purchase amount to allow for tipping.
3. Hotels – Hotels may submit an amount for “authorization” that is more than the final purchase amount to allow for incidentals.
4. Car Rental – A car rental company may submit an “authorization” for more than the final purchase amount.

When using my BB&T MoneyAccount Debit Card at an ATM, which selection (checking, savings, credit card) do I choose to withdraw funds?
Most ATMs will allow you to select any option (checking, savings, credit card) to withdraw funds from your BB&T MoneyAccount.  If you encounter difficulty, you should select “credit card” to complete your transaction. [back to top]

Is there a limit to how many times I can withdraw cash?
You may use your MoneyAccount Debit Card as often as you like to withdraw cash up to your available balance or your maximum daily withdrawal limit. [back to top]

How much cash can I withdraw at one time?
You may use your MoneyAccount Debit Card to withdraw up to a maximum of your available balance or $500 per day at an ATM.  You may use the card to make purchases or get cash in a branch of any financial institution up to the maximum of your available balance or $3,000 per day. [back to top]

How can I obtain all the funds in my account if my balance is below the ATM cash withdrawal minimum?
You can obtain these funds by requesting cash back at a point-of-sale location, or by visiting a BB&T financial center.  Or, you can request a cash disbursement (cash advance) from any participating Visa bank. [back to top]

How can I check my BB&T MoneyAccount balance?
The easiest way to check the balance of your BB&T MoneyAccount is by using BB&T OnLine® Banking.  Signing up is free and easy at  From your cell phone, you can use BB&T Mobile banking to check your balance via text message, BB&T’s Mobile web page (, or using BB&T’s Mobile App.  Your mobile carrier's text messaging and web access charges may apply. What if a purchase is denied?
If your purchase is denied, then the account’s available balance is probably less than the purchase amount.  You may inform the merchant of the remaining balance on the card and use another form of payment to pay the difference, subject to the policy of the merchant.  Also, please be aware that use of the BB&T MoneyAccount Debit Card at some merchants – for example, restaurants and mail-order companies – requires the card have an available balance greater than the purchase amount to ensure sufficient funds for tips or incidental expenses. Can the card ever have a negative balance?
Normally, any authorization request that is greater than the account’s available balance will be declined.  However, there may be a situation when a Visa merchant puts an item through without prior authorization.  In the unlikely event that a negative balance situation occurs, the amount of the negative balance will automatically be deducted from the next deposit that is made to your BB&T MoneyAccount.
